Terminator plot hole?

I can't remember the phone being off the hook (I'll take your word for it), but I'm pretty sure the Terminator would stick around to confirm Conner's death. The female Terminator in T3 confirming DNA through testing blood was an effective plot device. Maybe that's the case with the T100? Great question.
