I'm a nervous wreak, flying 1st time and alone (easy 10 pnts.)?

In 6 short days I get on a plane (delta) and fly 8hrs (ish) to Seattle wa. I'm 22 never flown be for not only am I afraid of taking this adventure alone I'm petrified of flying!! So scared I can't even sleep. Will I be safe alone? Is flying scary? Any advice, words of wisdom. Experiences? Please, please, plead share! Thanks in advance. P.s. Is delta a good airline?
